Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B) has been consistent in its top five holdings. The largest stakes are in Coca Cola Co (NYSE:KO), which holds 21 percent of the portfolio, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) at 18 percent of the portfolio, International Bus. Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) holds 17.5 percent, American Express (NYSE:AXP) totals 11 percent and The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG) 4.9 percent of the portfolio. The only major reductions in the top five holdings was made in Procter & Gamble. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE:WMT) is a close sixth with 4.3 percent.
New Positions
In the last quarter the fund initiated positions in National Oilwell Varco Inc. (NYSE:NOV) with 2.8 million shares, and Phillips 66 (NYSE:PSX) with 27 million shares, making up 1.2 percent of the portfolio.
Additions
The largest expansion in a previous position was made in Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ:VIA.B). The fund increased its holdings by 328 percent, bringing up the shares to 6.8 million that is now 0.43 percent of the portfolio. The stake in Bank of New York (NYSE:BK) was upped by 233 percent, the company now holds more than 18.7 million of its shares, and that makes up 0.55 percent of the portfolio. Other additions were made in Liberty Media Capital (NASDAQ:LMCA), Lee Enterprises (NYSE:LEE), DaVita Inc. (NYSE:DVA), DIRECTV Group Inc. (NASDAQ:DTV). Minor additions were made to International Bus. Machines (NYSE:IBM) and Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC). Buffett has stated that his favourite company is Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC).
Reductions
The fund sold off almost the entire stake in Ingersoll-Rand Plc (NYSE:IR), only leaving 20, 000 shares behind. Holdings in United Parcel Service (UPS:NYSE) were also reduced by 81 percent. The pharmaceutical major, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), was also sold off. The stake now makes up less that 1 percent of the portfolio. Other significant reductions in holdings were made in Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG) by 18 percent, Kraft Foods Inc. (NASDAQ:KFT) by 24.6 percent, Visa Inc (NYSE:V), CVS Caremark Corp. (NYSE:CVS), General Electric (NYSE:GE), and Verisk Analytics Inc. (NASDAQ:VRSK).
Financial sector holdings make up 36 percent of the portfolio, while Consumer Staples and Information Technology come at second and third, making up 34 percent and 17 percent of the total investments.
